November 13 Worship: Stewardship Sunday
Scripture: Malachi 4:1-2a; Psalm 98; 2 Thessalonians 3:6-13; Luke 21:5-19
Sermon: “Thanks and Giving”. We all love Thanksgiving. And we are called to Give Thanks. But let’s take time to look at the connection between acknowledging that the Lord has given all things to us, so we are to be thankful – but then are called to give generously of our time, talents and treasure. What is the Thanks and Giving connection?
November 20 Worship: Youth Sunday/Thanksgiving Sunday
Scripture: Jeremiah 23:1-6; Psalm 46; Colossians 1:11-20; Luke 23:33-43
Being grateful and thankful are not just things we are called to do one day a year. We are called to live a life of gratitude and service, being thankful for the love of God through Jesus in all things! Our Acts 29 youth have created this worship service, and will lead and teach us to live out of a spirit of a spirit of abundance.
November 27 – Advent One – Sacred Time: Hope“… you know what time it is. The hour has already come for you to wake up from your sleep… the night is far gone, the day is near.” – Romans 13: 11-14
“Keep awake therefore, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming.” – Matthew 24: 36-44
The busyness of the holiday season can overrun the sense of the sacred. The irony is that setting apart time for connection with the sacred gets pushed aside in order to create the trappings of what is supposed to be the season of celebrating the incarnation of the Holy! We will begin our Advent journey toward Christmas by emphasizing the gift of being awake to the “now”… the gift of sacred time with God, with each other, and with those in need of hope.
