Padre Pio Prayer Group

Dear Fellow Parish Bulletin Reps:  October is dedicated to the Holy Rosary. The Memorial of Our Lady of the Rosary is celebrated on October 7, 2020. The Holy Father’s intentions for the Month of October, 2020:  The Laity’s Mission in the Church.  We pray that by the virtue of baptism the laity, especially women, may participate more in areas of responsibility in the Church. Feasts for October:  Therese of the Child Jesus (10/1), Guardian Angels (10/2), Bl. Francis Xavier Seelos (10/5), Bruno (10/6), Our Lady of the Rosary (10/7), Teresa of Jesus (10/15), Hedwig, Margaret Mary Alacoque (10/16), Ignatius of Antioch (10/17), Paul of the Cross (10/20), John Paul II (10/22), John of Capistrano (10/23), Anthony Claret (10/24), Simon and Jude (10/28). “The Rosary is the weapon of defense and salvation.” ~ St. Padre Pio.

In October, 2002 our Holy Father John Paul II wrote the Apostolic Letter, ‘Rosarium Virginis Mariae (The Rosary of the Virgin Mary):  “This letter introduced five new mysteries called the Luminous or Mysteries of Light, which are (1) Jesus’ Baptism in the Jordan, (2) Jesus’ self-manifestation at the wedding of Cana, (3) Proclamation of the Kingdom of God with the call to conversion, (4) the Transfiguration, and (5) the Institution of the Eucharist.”  Try to make a more concerted effort to pray the rosary together as a family during the month of October, read the Apostolic Letter to understand the beauty of this devotion more deeply, and pray the new Luminous mysteries.  October 16 is known as “Pope Day” on which we celebrate the gift of the papacy and our current Pope Francis.
Every person has a Guardian Angel assigned to them, and October 2 the Church celebrates the role of these Guardian Angels.  We should show devout gratitude to God for placing these angels at our service.  Having a Guardian Angel should give us a confidence during all of life’s difficulties.  Every Catholic should know the Angele Dei (Angel of God) prayer and pray it often.  The Directory on Popular Piety suggests that families pray it at morning and evening prayers or after the Angelus. “Mary has taught us the Rosary, just as Jesus taught us the Our Father.  Our Lady Herself asked us on many occasions to pray the Rosary daily, in particular, through the visionaries of Fatima” ~ St. Padre Pio.
May we respectfully request that you continue your active support of our monthly Padre Pio Prayer Group gatherings by inserting the following invitation in your parish bulletin, “Join our Padre Pio Prayer Group (PPPG-CK) each 2nd Saturday (10/10/2020) monthly for the 8 AM Mass, Rosary, Discussion, Adoration @ Christ the King Church (NARTHAX), 4100 Harvest Lane, Toledo, OH 43623.  Access:  ‘www.pppg.org‘ for info.  Contact Magdalena Skiles (419.356.4208) or email @ ‘magdalena@magdalenaskiles.com‘.
