Encouraging Words for Trying Times

We find ourselves asking ‘how long’ these days. “How long’ do I have to hold for customer service? ‘How long’ do I have to wait before I can enter the store? ‘How long’ will I have to home school my kids? ‘How long’ till life is back to normal?

Jeremiah the prophet asked ‘how long’ when the children of Israel suffered, “How long will the land lie parched and the grass in every field be withered? Because those who live in it are wicked, the animals and birds have perished. Moreover, the people are saying, “He will not see what happens to us.” (Jeremiah 12:4)

God asked Moses ‘how long’, “The LORD said to Moses, “How long will these people treat me with contempt? How long will they refuse to believe in me, in spite of all the signs I have performed among them?” (Numbers 14:11)

Solomon asked ‘how long’, ““How long will you who are simple love your simple ways? How long will mockers delight in mockery and fools hate knowledge? Repent at my rebuke! Then I will pour out my thoughts to you, I will make known to you my teachings. (Proverbs 1:22-23)

The question remains, ‘how long’ till we draw near to God asking Him to draw near to us? God promised through is prophet Malachi, “From the days of your fathers you have turned aside from My statutes and have not kept them. Return to Me, and I will return to you,” says the Lord of hosts…” (Malachi 3:7)
