Dear Fellow Parish Bulletin Reps: March is dedicated to St. Joseph. The Holy Father’s Intentions for March, 2020: Catholics in China: We pray that the Church in China may persevere in its faithfulness to the Gospel and grow in unity. Feasts for March: Katharine Drexel (3/3), Casimir of Poland (3/4), Perpetua and Felicity (3/7), Frances of Rome ((3/9), Patrick (3/17), Cyris of Jerusalem (3/18), Joseph, husband of Mary (3/19), Turibio de Mogrovejo (3/23), Annunciation of the Lord (3/25).
As we continue our journey “up to Jerusalem” during the month of March, three (3) prominent ideas are proposed for our contemplation by the Liturgy of Lent: the Passion and Resurrection of Christ, baptism, and penance.
The Solemnity of St. Joseph is a special landmark this month to celebrate the great honor bestowed upon the foster father of Jesus. St. John Paul II said, “Because St. Joseph is the protector of the Church, he is the guardian of the Eucharist and the Christian family. Therefore, we must turn to St. Joseph today toward off attacks upon the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist and upon the family. We must plead with St. Joseph to guard the Eucharistic Lord and the Christian family during this time of peril.” “The Devil does not want to lose this battle. he takes on many forms. For several days now, he has appeared with his brothers who are armed with batons and pieces of iron. One of the difficulties is that they appear in many disguises. There were several times when they threw me out of my bed and dragged me out of my bedroom. I am patient, however, and I know Jesus, Our Lady, my Guardian Angel, St. Joseph and St. Francis are always with me.”
If you are Irish, St. Patrick’s feast (3/17) is another cause for a joyful celebration.
On March 2, 2020 the Vatican archives will open their files from Pius XII’s pontificate (1939-58). “The world has to recognize what this great pope did to save as many Jews as possible.” “It’s time for the truth!” said Michael Hesemann, a German historian and author who spoke on the anniversary in Midtown Manhattan at the headquarters of the United Nations Trusteeship Council, one of the six principal organs of the U.N .
