The Holy Father’s intentions for the Month of November, 2019: Dialogue and Reconciliation in the near East; That a spirit of dialogue, encounter, and reconciliation emerge in the near East, where diverse religious communities share their lives together. Feasts during the month of November: All Saints (11/1), All Souls (11/2), Charles Borromeo (11/4), Martin of Tours: Veterans Day (USA) Memorial (11/11), Josaphat (11/12), Frances Xavier Cabrini (11/13) Albert the Great (11/15), Margaret of Scotland, Gertrude (11/16), Presentation of Mary (11/21), Cecilia (11/22), Bl. Miguel Agustin Pro (11/23), Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe (11/24), Andrew (11/30). The Crucified Christ said to the Italian priest (Padre Pio), “He was lamenting the ingratitude of men, especially those consecrated to him and favored by him”. How often have we been ungrateful?
As we come to the end of the Church year, we are asked to consider the end times, our own, as well as the world’s. The culmination of the liturgical year is the Feast of Christ the King (November 24, 2019).
The national holiday (USA) of Thanksgiving also falls on the last Thursday (11/28) of November. “You ought to ask Our Lord for just one thing, to love him. All the rest should be “thanksgiving”. ~ St. Padre Pio.
Pope Francis is scheduled to travel to Thailand and Japan in November (departing Rome on November 19, and returns on November 26, 2019). Let us pray for Pope Francis’ safe travels in the theme of ‘peace’.
