Knights of Columbus – Free Throw Contest The Sylvania Knights of Columbus Council # 5628 will host their annual Basketball Free Throw Contest at St. Joe Sylvania West Gym on Monday January 21, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. EST The Free Throw contest is free of charge and open to all boys and girls ages 9 through 14 (age determined as of January 1, 2019). Forms are available at the door, through your CYO basketball coaches or contact Joe Beham. Each shooter will shoot 15 baskets and all ties will be broken via a shoot-off in 5 shot increments. Foul shots will be shot from the regulation foul shooting distance of 15 feet for ages 12, 13 and 14 year old contestants and from 12 feet for ages 9, 10 and 11. The winners from each age group (both boy and girl) will receive a trophy and will advance to the District level competition to be held in early February. Also at the end of the traditional K of C Free Throw contest, we will do a “knock-out” free throw contest with the winners getting a gift certifi cate. TROOP 87 SERVICE PROJECT Bring your U. S. fl ags that are no longer fi t for service to church on Scout Sunday, February 3rd. Boxes will be located in the Narthex all weekend, and Scouts will accept fl ags before and after 11:30 Mass. The fl ags will be folded and respectfully retired by BSA Troop 87 in a special ceremony at Camp Miakonda.
