With the nomination of Kavanaugh for SCOTUS, President Trump’s proposed defunding of Planned Parenthood, Ohio Court cases against Capital Care, there is an outcry that Roe V. Wade might be overturned. Seems like cause for celebration right?
The goal of the pro-life movement isn’t to overturn the decision which legalized abortion for the United States but rather, to grant the legal status of personhood to those in the womb. If Roe V. Wade is overturned, abortion becomes a state-level decision and there will likely be many states that keep abortion legal and some that will make it illegal. That is a step forward in the battle for life. But, the real victory will be when preborn children are granted personhood which then allows them full protection under the law and within the scope of the 14th Amendment:
All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside. No state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any state deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.
