School Supply Drive
Toledo, OH (July 23, 2018) – The Salvation Army just finished taking applications for their Tools for School program. Over 160 households applied to receive backpacks and schools supplies. Now The Salvation Army needs your help as they finish their collection drive. There is one week left to donate to the annual Tools for School drive which will end July 27th. By providing basic school supplies and a new backpack The Salvation Army hopes to even the playing field for children who may not otherwise be able to start school with the tools they need to succeed throughout the school year.
The Toledo area collection sites include all 5 Packo’s locations, 18 Burger King locations, both Walt Churchill’s locations (Perrysburg and Maumee), Office Max in Holland, Toledo Academy of Beauty, Sky Zone, and Waterville Family Physicians. Last year The Salvation Army was able to provide backpacks and school supplies for over 1,200 students in Lucas, Wood and Ottawa Counties and provided about 100 Toledo Public School teachers with supplies. If your child needs a backpack you can simply call 2-1-1, operators will help you find the best local program for you. The Salvation Army can also needs volunteers to help with sorting school supplies, packing the backpacks and distributing the backpacks.
