Nothing enriches the contemplation of the mysteries of the Rosary like encountering them at their source in Sacred Scripture. Five Scripture passages from the New Testament are explored for each set of the Rosary’s mysteries: the Joyful, the Sorrowful, the Luminous, and the Glorious. Join us for a five-week study on the Rosary to be held on Wednesday evenings, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., at the East Campus Meeting Rooms. Sessions will be on May 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30. Registration is required by calling 419-885- 5791 or email jdenyer@stjoesylvania.org. A study set (cost of $12.00) will be distributed at the first meeting. St. Joseph’s Respect Life Ministry’s 2018 Mother’s Day Baby Bottle Campaign! Respect Life Mother’s Day Baby Bottle Campaign begins Mother’s Day weekend, May 12th and 13th. The donations, as in the past, go to support Heartbeat and The Pregnancy Center who support women with unplanned pregnancies. These organizations offer pregnancy tests, ultrasound, support, counseling, and education to assist mothers, fathers, and their babies. Please fill the bottles with cash and checks. The bottles can be brought back anytime between Mother’s Day and Father’s Day weekend. There will be a box in the back of the church to put the bottles in or you may take them to the Parish Center. Thank you in advance for your continued support of mothers and their babies.
JOSEPH’S MEALS Saturday and Sunday, May 12th and 13th will be sign-up weekend for anyone interested in helping with our monthly, parish food donation to the Helping Hands of St. Louis Soup Kitchen. Tables will be in the back and front of the church with lists of various items that are needed. Please sign up to make a pasta dish or to provide other foods or supplies. Because of the set-up for Festirama this month, the drop-off point for these items will be on the East Campus bus loop, on Wednesday morning May 16th between 8:00 and 8:30 a.m. If you would like to help but can’t make this time frame, please contact Larry or Deb Gaster at 419-841-3724. If you would like to contribute to this outreach program, please make your check payable to St. Joseph Social Outreach.
Little Sisters of the Poor Annual Collection May 12/13, 2018 Their mission, “To share their lives with the needy elderly, offering them a home where they may find rest and refreshment as they journey towards eternal life in the Father’s house.” Please be generous to the Little Sisters of the Poor next weekend. The cost of caring for the Elderly in a manner respectful of their dignity far exceeds the income received from the Residents; pensions, Social Security, Medicaid and other government funding. To cover the constant deficit, they rely on your generosity. If you miss the collection, you may mail your donation directly to: The Little Sisters of the Poor, Sacred Heart Home, 930 W. Wynn Road, Oregon, OH 43616-3599.
