Dear Fellow Disciples,
During this “Year of Prayer” I want to share with you three prayer lists I keep.
1. Every Day
On my daily prayer list are people closest to me: my family (including my extended family), our Godchildren (and my Godparents), the children we support in Haiti, and our Bishops: Elizabeth and Daniel (and their families).
2. Days of the Week
On each day of the week, I pray for different groups of people:
- Mondays I pray for the pastors (and their families) and the congregations of the Eastwood school district. Do you know how many there are?
- Tuesdays I pray for the Lutheran pastors and congregations of our area, the North Central Conference of the Northwestern Ohio Synod.
- Wednesdays I pray for leaders and emerging leaders: Lutheran seminary students from northwest Ohio, leaders in our congregation, Vicar Janelle, the conference deans of the Northwestern Ohio Synod, and the staff here at Bethlehem.
- Thursdays I pray for elected and civic leaders, including those at the national and state level, our local village council, and school board.
- Fridays I pray for some of the nations of the world (currently Haiti, Tanzania, North Korea and Nigeria) and missionaries, including Josh and Kalee Johnston and Mary Singer of Cru.
- Saturdays I pray for our guests: folks that have been worshipping with us.
3. Weekly and Monthly
Each week as a staff we pray for five-member families of Bethlehem and one family in our preschool and extended care ministries. I also pray for six Facebook friends, an idea inspired by Ken Finley. Depending on the need, some of these folks are also on my monthly prayer list.
Whether you make a short list or a long list, who is on your prayer list?
Memory Verse for April, May and June
