Are you interested in making a prayer shawl (knit, crochet, cross-hook, sewn, quilted, fleece fringed, etc.)? We have pattern sources for you. Basic sizes are 18- 25” wide by 60-75” long. Please feel free to contact Cheryl or Kathy at the church office (419-287-4182), if you have any questions. Prayer Shawls are used to comfort those in any kind of need and are available in our Mission Action Center. They can also be used for baptisms, weddings, milestone birthdays, etc. You also may request one just because… When taking a prayer shawl, please mark down the recipient’s name and your name as the giver. Completed prayer shawls may be dropped off at the office from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., M-F, or Sunday morning. We do tag them so people know they are coming from the women of Bethlehem.

2018-19 YAGM APPLICATIONS – one month left to apply! The ELCA Young Adults in Global Mission (YAGM) program invites young adults ages 21-29 into a year of service, faith formation and relationship building in 11 country programs around the world. Young adults serve in the spirit of accompaniment, walking alongside global companions in a manner that practices mutuality, interdependence, and solidarity. COMMUNITY FOOD PANTRY Housed at Bethlehem Available Monday through Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the second and last Saturday of the month from 8-11 a.m., for Eastwood community residents in need of food. Please help us stock these items in February: Condensed and Chunky Soups, jam and jelly. Personal items are always needed, such as generic shampoos, conditioners, pump soap, deodorant, toothbrushes, toothpaste and laundry detergent. Any non-perishable items and monetary donations are gladly accepted. Please place items in the tubs in the Mission Action room (111). Thank you!
Grace’s Place ~ Luckey, Ohio. Grace’s Place is a new free-store at 246 Main Street in Luckey. They offer free coffee, free household goods and free clothing for both children and adults. They are open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 am to 2 pm, and Saturdays from 9 am to 1 pm. Volunteers and assistance is needed to support this ministry. Organizers are looking for sorters, counter staff, and hospitality hosts. Donations of clothing, household goods and money to help cover operations and other needs can be made during their business hours or by calling Grace Lutheran Church at 419-833-2146.
Bethlehem Lutheran Church Woman – BLCW, KNOTTING DATES: Join us in tying blankets for Lutheran World Relief and local nursing homes on Tuesdays, February 13 and 27, at 9 a.m., in the basement. WE COLLECT: Knit Crosheen thread, used eyeglasses, used hearing aids, UPC codes, cell phones, and more. Please look in the BLCW handbook for more information. COLLECTIONS of items can be dropped off at the Mission Action Center (room 111).
February Mission Action project for Lutheran World Relief Personal Care Kits: Include the following items in each Personal Care Kit: 1 bath towel (approximately 52” x 27”) dark color recommended; 2 bars of new bath size soap (4-5 oz.), any brand, in its original packaging; 1 adult-sized toothbrush, in its original packaging*; 1 sturdy comb, wide tooth, remove packaging; 1 metal nail clipper, remove packaging *Toothbrush multi-packs may be used by sealing an individual toothbrush in a business envelope, no plastic bags or wrap. Do not add other items or leave out any of the items listed. All items should be new and in good condition. Wrap all the items in the towel and tie securely with ribbons or yarn. Do not enclose the kit or any of its contents in plastic bags. Please place items in the tubs in the Mission Center (room 111) or at the Cedar Street entrance, marked Mission Action Projects.
