SalvationArmyToledo, OH (December 11, 2017) – Speedy Clean Laundromat and Car Wash (6661 W. Bancroft St. Toledo, Oh 43615 corner of Bancroft and McCord) along with the Springfield High School softball team will be collecting donations for The Salvation Army December 16 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. There will be volunteers providing free car washes for those that donate. Dan Shook, the owner of Speedy Clean Laundromat and Car Wash organized the fundraiser.

When asked why he reached out to The Salvation Army for the event he said. “There could not be a better choice than to support The Salvation Army. My 87-year-old mother has fond feelings for The Salvation Army going back to the care, comfort and overnight accommodations they provided to my mom and grandparents when my mom was 4 years old.”

The Salvation Army is in the middle of their Red Kettle Campaign for 2017 with a goal of raising $500,000. The funds raised during the annual campaign support Salvation Army programs throughout the year.  In 2016, The Salvation Army served over 31,000 individuals in Northwest Ohio by providing utility, rent, food, clothing, prescription, and transportation assistance. The Salvation Army staff help individuals understand their innate value and ability to be self-sufficient by providing a hand-up, not a hand-out!

The Salvation Army, an evangelical part of the universal Christian church established in London in 1865, has been supporting those in need in His name without discrimination for 130 years in the United States. Nearly 30 million Americans receive assistance from The Salvation Army each year through the broadest array of social services that range from providing food for the hungry, relief for disaster victims, assistance for the disabled, outreach to the elderly and ill, clothing and shelter to the homeless and opportunities for underprivileged children. 82 cents of every dollar The Salvation Army spends is used to support those services in 5,000 communities nationwide.
