‘A Pastor Chosen by God’ is the theme of the 2-day Pastoral Installation Ceremony when Reverend Dr. K. David Johnson will be installed as pastor of the historic Third Baptist Church, 402 Pinewood Avenue.
Reverend Johnson is a retired Naval Chaplain with more than 30 years experience providing pastoral counseling and leadership around the world. His pastoral expertise includes teaching, preaching, inspiring and motivating a diverse congregation or organization, fiscal management and building an active, progressive congregation. He has received numerous awards and honors including – 1985, Outstanding Man in the Community (Oakland, CA) and ‘Who’s Who Among American College and University Students. He is a native of Berkley, CA.
On Saturday, August 2 a formal banquet will be held in the Third Baptist Church Fellowship Hall beginning at 6 p.m. Reverend James Willis, Regional Board Member for ABC/Ohio and the Moderator for the Toledo Area American Baptist Association and Pastor of St. Paul Baptist Church is the speaker.
Reverend Willis commented, ‘Dr. Johnson possesses a very humble spirit. I’m not one to take to people without careful observations. As I continue observance of Dr. Johnson, I can see the passion that he has for the love of God. I believe Dr. Johnson was selected to lead Third Baptist Church because this was a part of God’s plan for such a time as this.’
The ‘Installation Ceremony’ continues on Sunday, August 3. Reverend Geoffrey V. Guns, former president, Virginia State Baptist Convention will speak at 11 and later at 4 p.m.
