Promises & Blessings
God’s Promise:
“They have no struggles; their bodies are healthy and strong.”
– Psalm 73:4
The month of April includes several National Health Observances including; Autism Awareness, IBS Awareness, Donate Life, Minority Health and Women’s Eye Health month, World Health Day and many more…
While God made us in his vision – perfect in every way – it is each and every one of our responsibilities to take care of our selves in ways to protect and nurture our bodies, and souls.
Even small changes in your behaviors can help you maintain better health and wellness. Watch what you eat, you don’t have to deprive yourself of things you love, but try to eat some additional fruits and vegetables and a little less starches and fatty meat. Drink plenty of water each day. Get a little bit of exercise – even a short walk will help. Be aware of any changes in your body, skin and general feeling of wellness. And don’t be afraid to ask for help from your doctor or other area health service organizations. Ignoring any issues is not the answer.
Diabetes, as one example, is one of the most common diseases that affect our population. Common risk factors include age (45+), overweight, family history, high blood pressure or cholesterol, inactive lifestyle and others factors. Signs can include excessive thirst, urination or eating, weight loss, weakness and fatigue, slow healing, cramps in legs, feet or fingers and drowsiness. But there are successful treatments as long as you get diagnosed. Again, watch your body, be aware of your symptoms, see your doctor, and research local organizations that can assist you in dealing with this challenge.
Mental wellness is just as important. Make sure you continue to have a positive outlook on life, even in difficult times. Be thankful for the blessings that are in your life. Maintain social activities; reach out to friends and family, continue to attend prayer groups, or take steps to expand your individual spiritual awareness. Watch for excessive stress factors and research techniques for dealing with this stress. Do not feel that you are alone in this. There are groups and organizations and councilors that can assist you.
Again, God created us and gave us great potential. It is our responsibility to live up to that potential through caring for ourselves, loving ourselves as we would a child or another loved one, and as he cared for us.
God’s Blessing:
“Nevertheless, I will bring health and healing to it; I will heal my people and will let them enjoy abundant peace and security.” – Jeremiah 33:6
