Is Sunday still the most segregated day in America?

SamEvery week millions of Americans get up on Sunday mornings to go to their favorite churches and hear their favorite preachers. People come from all over just to engage in the services, the music, hear testimonies and gather with family and friends. They feel comfortable around everybody and everybody around them. Every thing is great and most people are happy.

In America today most churches depict everybody being somewhat on the same page whether the same race, economic class, social circles or professional status. Church is the one place where people go to be comfortable, but is this always the right approach or did Jesus try to send another type of message? Dr. Martin Luther King once stated “Sunday was the most segregated day in America.” Why is it that the body of Christ can shop at the same stores, eat at the same restaurants, buy the same cars and work at the same job with people of different backgrounds, cultures, ideas and religions, but will not gather together across the board for Christ’s name sake?

Let’s explore some things that might put a light on these areas that should to be addressed. Most Christians don’t cross barriers when it comes to churches not because of prejudice, economic class, or social circles even though sometimes that’s the case, but Christians don’t cross barriers in church because they like being comfortable when serving God.

Let me suggest that the body of Christ has adapted the world’s view on being comfortable because the world is not really in fear of the church because the church does not presents a real fear, reverence or respect for God. Does the church camouflage knowing they won the war but won’t go to battle?
When a Christian gets uncomfortable in church whether it is something the pastor said or a member looked at them the wrong way they will leave in a minute. When it comes with dealing with things of the world they’re not so quick to move from their spot.

Why is Sunday still the most segregated day in America? My point is Christians don’t like being uncomfortable! The Body of Christ will share space quicker with people in the world than with their Christian brothers and sisters. If the Body of Christ is going to make any type of impact in America as well as the world at large, they will have to come together and go through being comfortable with being uncomfortable until they win! With no guile there will be no winning the world. Nobody or nothing ever got to greatness without going through fear and being uncomfortable.

Let’s look at Jesus, from the time before he was born he was a wanted man, he lived the life of being uncomfortable, but seemed to be comfortable with it because he knew what was at stake! Does the body of Christ know what’s at stake if they don’t come together? Fear can put up tremendous roadblocks that don’t exist. Christians in fear will use their faith to hide behind, but in order to change the world you’re going to have to think, act and walk outside of the box.

The name of Jesus is the most famous and controversial name in the history of mankind, the book about his family is the highest selling best seller in literary history, his mother is headlining the catholic church, his father’s name is connected to religions all across the world and Jesus pulled off one of the most spectacular miracles in history when he rose from the dead! The body of Christ will not rise above all things unless they come together through fear and being uncomfortable. Jesus was never comfortable with the world being comfortable. When the life of Jesus is examined the church has to look at itself and say is the example of Christ being used to effectively win in the world? The church can’t be afraid to come together, learn about, and from each other.

The most important thing is to love one another and be everything Christ called us to be. Christians come in all shapes, economic classes, sizes, and colors were all in this love life together so let’s make our heavenly father proud because the body of Christ followed his perfect example. Take the time to talk, visit or see Christians that are different than you, embrace them learn from them and give your all!

P.S.

I love the body of Christ, you’re the greatest people on earth and there nothing anybody can do about it!
