Fraudsters will never take a break. While you are out enjoying fun and sun this summer, they are working hard to find new ways to scam you. Seniors and younger people are particularly vulnerable to scammers who claim to represent Social Security. To protect you and your loved ones, you can: Visit our Protect Yourself from Social Security Scams webpage at www.ssa.gov/scam for information on what tactics scammers use and how to report them. Check out the Federal Trade Commission’s page at consumer.ftc.gov/scams for additional scam-related information.
The 15th Annual Golf for Hope, which is the longest running fundraiser for the ministries of Toledo Gospel Rescue Mission, is fast approaching. Currently, we’ve received about $10,000 in door prizes, however, financial sponsorships are very slim. I can not stress to you enough how crucial of a moment TGRM is in. Your support of this event is needed, not just to make the event successful, but also to strengthen TGRM’s ability to reach out even further to meet the needs of those who are homeless, hurting, and in need right here in the Toledo area.

WHO
Fur Angels Rescue Shelter, a no-kill group (unless the animal is dangerous or euthanasia is medically necessary) who provides temporary and long-term shelter, warmth and safety, food, medical treatment and love in a network of foster homes until each animal finds their perfect, forever home. The non-profit organization – who has a goal of having a brick-and-mortar shelter – does not receive any state or federal funding and relies on support from individuals and businesses to help the community’s homeless animals.
This is hopefully
slipping into the background with Toledo City Council. We are praying
that is the case and this is a dead issue.
Even so, people can be encouraged to contact Toledo City Council members and ask that they stand against and vote no on any version of the proposed ‘patient safety’ ordinance. The reasons to site when contacting President of Council, Matt Cherry and other council members is to impress on them that:

This photo is of Sam Szor when he was conducting the Toledo Symphony Orchestra in the National Anthem for a Mudhens game. They gave him the jersey to wear and he also threw out the first pitch. The pitch made it across home plate, I believe, but on a bounce! Good thing he did music and not baseball! :-) “Sam Szor: Toledo’s Mr. Music,” a biography of Sam’s professional life is available at Gathering Volumes Bookstore in Perrysburg, at Musical Resources 2020 N. Holland-Sylvania Rd, Toledo, at the Rockets Bookstore at 3047 W. Bancroft, Toledo and also on line at utoledopress.com.
Toledo Gospel Rescue Mission (TGRM.ORG),
a Christian non-profit serving homeless and low-income clients in Lucas County
since 1965, is pleased to announce the selection of Kelly Llanas as its new
Executive Director. Ms. Llanas will be responsible for directing all operations
of the ministry upon the retirement of TGRM’s current director, Rev. Thomas
Clapsaddle, at the end of this year. TGRM Board President, Scott Bernhard,
stated that Ms. Llanas brings years of experience in urban ministry, especially
in the greater Toledo area. She has been intimately involved in TGRM operations
as an employee and is uniquely qualified to implement TGRM’s strategic vision
in the coming years. Ms. Llanas has a heart for those in need rooted in her
love of Christ. As she puts it, “At the end of the day, it’s less about what we
do and more about why we do it. I am proud to represent a ministry that
believes that people have value, deserve to be treated with dignity, and can be
transformed by the power and hope of the Gospel message.” As the daughter
of Rev. Clapsaddle, she looks forward to building on his legacy and serving
Toledo’s homeless in the spirit of Matthew 25:35-36. To get involved or learn

Ever since Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit, death has been a curse on mankind.
The Apostle Paul
tells us, “…sin came into the world through one man, and death
through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned –“
He’s not just talking about our physical death that comes from natural causes, old age or sometimes from unexpected circumstances. But he’s also talking about the eternal death of our spirit.
